Let me start this post by asking, what are your travel plans this summer? Are you going on a wild, tropical vacation? Or maybe, renting a gorgeous cabin in the woods of Maine? Maybe shopping the streets of Milan is more your style or even sipping wine in a Napa winery. Whatever you choose to satisfy your wanderlust, promise me something. This summer, I want you to try something completely new! There are things to do in every corner of the world that can provide you with a unique experience that none of your friends have done before. We’ve all sat for days on the beach with a mai tai in one hand and a good book in the other and I’m not discouraging you from that. But, take it up a notch! Bring home more than a good tan this time. Bring home memories of a lifetime.
For instance, I live 2 hours from NYC and my typical visit to the Big Apple consists of riding the train in, catching a nice lunch and casually strolling the streets in search of that perfect pair of shoes. However, I found a completely new way to see the city; I’m going to kayak around it! The Hoboken Cove Boathouse offers volunteer-led tours of NY via the Hudson River complete with spectacular views of the NY skyline. Cool, huh?
I also plan on doing some very fun and unique things in Philadelphia this summer, too. I’m not sure if I’ve worked up enough nerve to see the creepy Mutter Museum, but it’s on the list of top cool things to see in Philly. I definitely plan on visiting Max Brenner’s Chocolate Restaurant for a chocolate martini and their signature Chocolate Chunk Pizza, followed by a unique shopping experience at Material Culture, a decor lovers dream come true!
What are you going to do this summer that’s fun and unique? Send me your ideas and let’s make it a summer to remember!
