Lady Kathleen SD112 yacht by Sanlorenzo has been chosen for the publication in the ADI Design Index 2017, the yearbook that collects the best of Italian design, selected by the ADI Permanent Design Observatory.
Made up of a commission of more than 100 members including experts, designers, critics, historians, journalists, this entity evaluates those products that stand out for their originality, their functional and typological innovation, the production processes adopted, the materials used and for the formal synthesis achieved.
With interior design by Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel, the yacht reproduce the style of old yachts with a contemporary design and with a strong architectural personality.
The architects aim to reproduce the atmosphere of old, large yachts, which have nothing to do with ostentatious luxury, emphasising the curve of its hull rather than concealing it, revealing its striking beauty.
The project focused on revisiting the concept of space: the stern openings of the main deck and upper deck produce an extension between the stern cockpit and the living area, so that they are not separated. A unique setting which unexpectedly grows larger while stern windows disappear when they are open.
The final result displays the strong oneness of the project which connects the internal and external space in a continuous flow, creating a large veranda from which the sea view can be enjoyed in a cosy environment.
The project of SD112 prove the strong bound between Sanlorenzo and the design world: in the past ten years, Sanlorenzo has therefore involved some of the best renown architects and designers in its yacht interior projects, starting with Dordoni Architetti, Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel and finally Piero Lissoni. The collaborations with these architects and designers have resulted in a total revolution of the aesthetic codes of nautical design through the adoption of a series of innovations and style elements that have made it possible to bring the concept of “home living” on board.
Next to this important recognition, the project of SD112 yacht will be explained in the video interview to Patricia Viel that will be shown at the ADI Design Index 2017 exhibition that in October will present the selected projects in two exclusive locations, the Science & Technology Museum in Milan and then at the Roman Aquarium Architecture House in Rome.
