Every year we enter award season in Interior Design Magazine. Designers line up to enter their products or project for the coveted “Best of the Year Award”. Once the products are entered and arranged into categories the vote from the public is used to decide the finalists. That’s right you and I get to vote on what we liked and then a panel of experts picks the winners. Now I do get how the process works but you would think the public vote would be even more of a factor but that is just my 2 cents.
Prose is architecture, not interior decoration, and the Baroque is over Ernest Hemingway
Is it just as good to be nominated as a finalist? Of course not because you don’t get that coveted shoutout by Interior Design Magazine and not to mention you can update your Wikipedia page and website. As you can see I am torn about the voting because who really can judge art? I mean if I like a chair I am going to buy it no matter who designed it or what award was given to the design firm. Then again I did buy a very overpriced pair of Gucci shoes because of the name…..the shame!
Getting back on topic. I love to browse over the categories and the various designs because at the end I find it very inspiring and I always find something that blows me away. Also I love seeing the few but new faces popping up from all over the globe. Something I have noted is that the international presence on the AD100 and Best of the Year Award in design is increasing every year.
So if you have the dinero and the skills you better get yourself entered by the 9th of Septmber because after that your only option is 2017. Also if you did enter and want to show off your project or design please let us know because as I said the public gets you to the show and our audience is pretty loud.
