So much of my year is spent blogging and talking with people in the design industry that it feels good to just get away for a vacation. When I say vacation it just means a change of scenery to write the blog and take those calls. Who am I kidding I love the people and the industry so bring it.
In blogging the idea of being inspired is just as important as sitting down and putting pen to paper. I always tell people to find what inspires you and make sure it always gets the proper amount of attention. My inspiration always comes when I travel or even just take a walk. As a blogger I sometimes have no idea what to write about so a nice walk always does the trick. Here are some ideas that might help you out of your writers block.
Wake Up Early
I love to wake up around 7am to write my blog. I grab a cup of coffee and a silent room and then start looking over design books, magazines and a of course pacing back and forth.
Clear Your Head
Most of us have stress in our lives. It will still be there after you create your blog so try and block it out. I find that if you try and put your blog as you main focus from the moment you wake up you can really block out other items. This helps to stay on point and to enjoy your morning.
Pictures are Perfect
When all else fails I just type in a design phrase or a designers name online and hit the images tab in Google and thumb through some images. Normally this does the trick and I am on my way. I do love the Internet.
Take as many of these as possible. They recharge the batteries and always give you a different perspective. Write down ideas and take pictures because later you can draw from them.
