I have always been in love with the feeling of a sauna. The idea of feeling at peace in a nice bath or shower is something that I feel is a must have. Living in Veracruz, Mexico for 8 years this always influences my vision in design. Something I always saw in the bath areas was large skylights or even outdoor showers. Granted a lot of them were not in the best condition but they drew my attention. Also the four elements of nature are so important in an design.
Classical elements typically refer to the concepts in Ancient Greece, of earth, water, air, fire, and aether, which were proposed to explain the nature and complexity of all matter in terms of simpler substances. – Wikipedia
In between cups of coffee I love that solitude of taking a nice long and hot shower. I have a few plants in the bathroom with some nice natural stones that I have picked up along my travels. Also everything from my toothbrush to the bench in my shower is wooden. The only real standout item that is not wood is my bathtub, which at this point I am on the fence about. I might go with a nice Japanese soak tub in the future.
I also had them install sound deadening drywall which just adds to the feeling of having a moment of quiet and ponder life’s big questions. Like where to vacation or what to make the kids for breakfast! Enjoy the read and I hope this inspired you to bring some nature into your bathroom!
