So tax extension is filed and now I get to get on with the holiday season. Everywhere you go you get hit over the head with the realization that 2016 is coming to a close. When Halloween is just around the corner, it’s almost like a countdown to the end of the year. We start with our browns and oranges and then segue into our reds and greens. Don’t get me wrong, I love the holiday countdown, but it really is a lot happening in a short amount of time. Today I want to focus on some of the shades of brown and orange that caught my eye.
As we all know, brown is not so much a seasonal color, but it’s a perfect accent for orange so it tends to stand out a little bit more this time of the year. From a home decor and designer point of view, brown tends to be essentially in any project. When you look at companies like Restoration Hardware brown is one of their signature colors. During this time of the year, when you add a shade of orange it works to also bring out the brown…designer illusion 101!
Orange for me tends to be a little more of a seasonal color. Now I know tons of people will disagree with me on this one. But maybe we can agree that pumpkin orange tends to show its head during this time of year more than any other time. Orange and it’s various shades have always been one of my favorite colors. You really can’t miss orange and a little goes a long way. Also, the right shade of orange loves nature and vegetation energy. It gives us an earthy feel which then translates into more a family and cozy vibe. Get ready to pour the wine because grandmother is coming to dinner.
Above are some of the visuals I picked for today. These visuals are shades of orange and brown that really caught my eye. These colors for me evoke emotions and a seasonal sense well-being. For me, these colors are a welcome friend. They are a primer for a holiday season full of friends, family and festivities. I hope you have an inspired week enjoy this blog post. As always, comments and feedback are welcome.
