source Madam Secretary
As I was watching one of my favorite show’s Madame Secretary I saw this amazing chair in their bedroom. This is where I drew inspiration for today’s blog.
Also that show is so stylish it really makes me like politics which I hate as of late.
I love a comfortable chair just as much as I love a beautiful chair. I have some of my favorite furniture companies that I love to go to shop for various pieces. Truth is this blog is not about a shameless plug but more about the quest of finding something beautiful and comfortable.
I have this amazing antique chair in my living room and most people are afraid to sit on it. In my opinion, pieces like that deserve to be in a museum. I host events at my house at least once a month. Being a host is about creating an environment that is friendly, inviting and beautiful. People should not be walking on eggshells when they’re at your party or home. So the chair I purchase needs to scream welcome and please sit down.
Lately I’ve been in love with high back chairs with the dark wood legs. I also like the idea of brass being worked into this chair somehow. I also think a nice creamy off-white color would work perfect for this chair. I’ve scoured the Internet for chair like this and I have not found any that I’m 100% happy with. So I decided to display pieces of various chairs that I would love to see brought together in one magnificent chair.
Legs and Framing
First lets start with the style of legs and framing. This Schnadig Furniture Classic Elegance Oval Back Chair is perfect! I love the shape and style of this piece.
Now lets talk about the back of the chair. I love this Birch Lane Gaines Chair but I would raise the back just a touch. I love the way it wraps around the person but not so tight almost like a flower.
I looked at images from the Smithsonian and fell in love with the look and feel of this British Style Button. Hence I want them on my new chair.
Most people who know furniture design understand blending two styles is never easy and can turn out horribly. But I will say that the fun thing about design is taking ideas and styles and making them your own. You might break a few eggs along the way, but you might also make something extraordinary.
