Drikolor, the exclusive producer of Le Corbusier’s Polychromie Architectural, is offering a color workshop using authentic Le Corbusier paint pigments. Le Corbusier took responsibility for the color scheme of his buildings; believing that “Polychromy is an architectural technique as powerful as the plan and section. Better than that: polychromy is itself an element of the plan and the section.”
Drikolor make colors like an artist, layering pigments to reflect light, using chalk from the Champagne region in France, ultramarine blues and pinks, umber from Cyprus, ochres from France, and bone black from North America. Refreshments and discussion after the workshop.
An international exhibit at The Hub, from Milan, Italy.
Brought to SF Design Week by The Istituto Italiano di Cultura of San Francisco and the Italian Consulate General San Francisco, and SF Design Week, sponsored by CoorItalia.
The Hub at Pier 27 – June 14 & 15, 2017.
Casa Castiglioni explores the work of Achille Castiglioni through the use of objects he designed over the course of 50 years. Conceived by the Castiglioni Foundation for the Abitami exhibition in Milan in 2011, and subsequently restaged in Rome, the show debuts in the US with the aim of recreating a living space where the creations of the Castiglioni brothers are available to the public. A performance by Giovanna Castiglioni (Achille’s daughter and president of the Castiglioni Foundation), will highlight scenes of daily life, interacting with objects and visitors and creating a narrative of how industrial objects made design history.
