Today, I want you to sit back, relax and grab your favorite flute because we are taking a moment to toast the founder and editor of Tastefully Inspired Blog, Mark McDonough. Often referred to as “down to earth,” “easy-going,” “self-less” and “obsessed with the first page of Google,” Mark is all of the above and more. Using his sharp business acumen, prolific marketing experience and extensive knowledge of the interior design industry, Mark launched Tastefully Inspired Blog in 2016 to celebrate the tastemakers of the world.
Although not an interior designer himself, Mark has an infinite amount of respect for interior and product designers. While working with some of the greatest interior designers in the industry, Mark noticed a void. Only a handful of designers were getting featured in the media, in shelter magazines, on television or in blogs. This is where Tastefully Inspired could make a difference. If he could find the unknown and anonymous tastemakers – the ones that toil day in and day out, but never make it to a magazine cover or ever get recognition by their peers – he could offer them a platform to feature and spotlight their talent and work.
By the time I came into the picture, Tastefully Inspired Blog (though it wasn’t called that at the time) was already blooming. It had a solid following, due not only to Mark’s witty style of writing, but to his understanding of digital marketing. Yet Mark knew that this blog could be so much more. After enlisting contributing writers who could offer more variety, Tastefully Inspired evolved from simply being a daily blog about design related topics to standing out as a go-to resource for topics ranging from food to marketing, a podcast, and a YouTube channel. Moreover, with the addition of our latest contributor, Yian, Tastefully Inspired is even reporting live from events around the industry.
But underneath all of Mark’s forward-thinking ideas and SEO obsession, lies a person who truly cares about the success of others. As a wife and mom, Mark’s motto of “family first” really resonated with me. In spite of being a go-getter in the truest sense of the word, Mark is always concerned with our families, as well as, our individual endeavors. This is the reason our team is so tight knit. A win for us is a win for Mark.
I am so thankful that in a world of DIYers, someone saw fit to applaud the tastemakers of the universe. It’s the reason why Kathleen, Yian and I get to blog and report on the things that matter most to us. It is why Mark cheers us on, continually pushing us to aim higher and to dream bigger.
Tastefully Inspired Blog may have started as a small idea, but fortunately for us, you have embraced us and given us the strength to keep going with your kind words every day. We are so grateful to know that the work we do inspires you to continue doing the work that you do.
From the entire team at Tastefully Inspired, thank you. We will continue to celebrate you and this art form that we love so much.
