How to become one of the best design blogs of 2017 is something we always strive for at Tastefully Inspired. Truthfully there is no best or worst. There is a passion and an outlet. BTW, there is no such thing as the best design blog. This is as real as a unicorn, but don’t tell my daughter because she loves unicorns. Design is very subjective and you really need to connect with a blog almost like picking out a designer or a friend. Picking a good design blog is almost like a round of speed dating. You keep hitting lemons until you find a match. So I wanted to create a guide to help the inspiring design blogger or just blogger in general along their journey to blogger fame and fortune.
Content is King or Queen
Having good content is a key to any good blog. Good visuals are key to getting people to read the writing. Good writing is the key to getting people to come back and visit. Always take pride in how you represent yourself online. In the long run, it will pay off.
Consistency is Required
Consistency is something that I find lacking in a lot of design blogs. If someone throws me two blogs a month whenever they get around to it, I find that rude and lazy. It is almost like getting a call back two weeks later. Respect your audience and give them some sort of consistency in your blogging. I don’t want my New York Times twice a month and whenever the person feels like it. That just does not work for me.
Focus is Essential
Stay focused on what your blog is all about and what your audience is expecting. Don’t spread yourself thin by covering topics in too many areas. Niche blogging is a great way to become an expert on a specific topic. Your audience will only increase I promise.
Market, Market and Market More
Spend at least an hour a day marketing your blog. Try doing link exchanges, commenting on other blogs, joining Facebook groups, social media and sending emails to people you admire in design.
The last and most important is to have fun. The design industry is a tough one to crack. Don’t get discouraged and always keep your eye on the prize. Whatever the prize is for you. I hope this article helped you on the road to becoming one of the best design blogs in 2017.
