One of my favorite things to buy or get as a gift are scented candles. Did you ever notice how when you smell a certain fragrance, your mind conjures up visions of grandma’s warm apple pie, or maybe you got a flashback of that pina colada on the first date with your husband.
Either way, I think our sense of smell is one of the most underrated gifts we have in the human body. Certain scents have the ability to calm us down like lavender after a long stressful day, or lemon to bring freshness to a stale room. No matter what your “fragrance” style is, there are so many new candle fragrances out there! From freshly cut grass, to my new favorite, the Crisp Champagne candle by Voluspa, there’s something for everyone.
With so many candle companies out there, there’s a lot to choose from and I recommend a high quality soy blend or coconut wax blend like the line at Voluspa. Here’s a tidbit of news for you. Traditional paraffin candles are made from petroleum oil and increase the CO2 level in the atmosphere. Whereas, soy candles are made from vegetable oil and don’t cause harmful soot or respiratory problems. Paraffin gives off that nasty black soot, too. Did I mention soy and coconut wax also burn much longer?
Candles might be a simple decorating accessory, but these days, some of the jars and containers are downright gorgeous. Check out this one called Crane Flower, also by Voluspa in a stunning gold glass bowl.
So, next time you’re ready to treat your olfactory glands to a new scented candle, make sure you choose soy based or other high-quality natural wax candles and both your body and your home will thank you! Get ready to indulge your senses and create the mood you want just by adding the finely crafted fragrance of a high-quality candle.
