What’s a Monday morning without coffee? For many of us, coffee is what gets us out of bed in the wee hours, or even helps boost our productivity throughout a long afternoon full of never-ending projects.
But coffee has always been in the spotlight. It seems like one week, it’s the health fad you should be practicing religiously and the next week, they tell you to stay clear of it’s stimulant effects. My take on it? Trained as a holistic health coach, I see both sides and as much as I hate this statement, I really must agree; everything in moderation.
Coffee gets me out of bed each day. The smell wafting through the kitchen as I meticulously pour the hot water over my grounds is a soothing balm to my psyche. But, give me a cup in the afternoon and it’s goodbye sleep that night.
Everyone reacts to caffeine differently. Some people live on caffeine…(wink wink, I’m talking to you) and need it to function. Yet others can experience side effects such as irritability, digestive problems, shaky hands and the list goes on.
So, my mantra regarding the most beloved beverage in the world is this. Drink coffee in moderation and always balance it with lots of fresh water. Your body will thank you.
