This past Monday, I had the huge honor of finally meeting the one and only, Luann Nigara of A Well-Designed Business Podcast.
What a treat it was to sit in on her Lunch and Learn series and mingle with some amazing designers and business owners. This week’s Lunch and Learn featured the very talented Nancy Ganzekaufer, a well-known business coach and all around sales and marketing guru. Her Profit Puzzle presentation was downright enlightening, unlocking the mysteries of running a successful interior design business.
Nancy’s system for the Profit Puzzle was straight-forward and informative and yet, she managed to keep it very entertaining. It followed along a series of 9 building blocks:
- Create – creating the roadmap to your success
- Identify – identifying your client profile
- Formulate – What is your signature message?
- Build – building your ladder of services
- Grow – growing your client base
I’ll let you wander over to her website for the rest of her presentation, but I was astonished at how much I learned and how much of her core information was easily modified to any business, not just interior design. I am not a designer, but I am an entrepreneur and every building block can be easily adapted to my own business.
Luann knows a thing or two about running a business as well.
She, her darling husband and their cousin have successfully managed the Window Works business for 25 + years. I was impressed with how exceptional and friendly her staff was! And to that note, the storefront was a clean, beautiful suite, with counters and those binge-worthy fabric sample books (I could’ve been there for hours perusing!) ready to help you decide which amazing window treatments you need.
I had already read Luann’s book, The Making of a Well-Designed Business, so I was so impressed that her book exemplified the exact processes that have made Window Works such a successful business.
She is definitely practicing what she preaches in the book. I almost felt I had been in the office before; everything was so clean and neat, the staff as helpful as she boasts and even down to the event, every piece was thought through thoroughly; once again, attesting to Luann’s fine sense of leadership and work ethic. She’s one classy lady!
Luann has some interesting projects coming up in the near future, so stay tuned as we bring you more details as we get them. She will be hosting some workshops and will feature some amazing speakers, one will even include our own Mark McDonough. She also has a new Coffee Talk show on Facebook, so if you’re not a part of Luann’s fan club, be sure to hop over and join in!
I really want to thank Luann and her team for a wonderful experience, and to Nancy Ganzekaufer for opening my eyes to some valuable new tips to run my own business!
