Happy Thanksgiving from Tastefully Inspired!
You got the turkey, the stuffing, even that beautiful apple pie from the local bakery, but did you plan your Thanksgiving tablescape yet?
No matter how many or how few people you are hosting this year, you have to have a pretty table to eat at!
Luckily, it’s easy and cheap to pull together some last minute decorations for a beautiful table.
I had the pleasure a few weeks ago to go to an event on this very topic. Designerlebrity’s Barbara Viteri, hosted an amazing “pre-Thanksgiving” dinner prepared by celebrity chef, Rudy Straker. Several designers were there and we got to learn the ins and outs of making a beautiful table setting.
Two such designers were David Santiago of Casa Santi, and Marlaina Teich, another well-known designer in the NY area. Between the three of them, we saw some wonderful ideas; everything from rich, jewel-tones and nature-inspired linens, to sparkling gold-rimmed plates and even a hint of whimsy with costume jewelry as napkin rings!
While the actual table setting is important, what table would be complete without a beautiful focal point?
I’ve planned events for over 2 decades and one of my favorite things to do is decorate for the event!
Here are my top 3 favorite elements to decorate any holiday table with.
- Food! Not the food you’re eating, but food like tiny pumpkins for Thanksgiving, hard candies and candy canes for Christmas and so on. You get the idea. Not only is it a biodegradable decoration, but chances are you’ll end up eating it before the end of the event! Well, maybe not the pumpkins.
- Natural items. Once again, I refer to a biodegradable element – I’m heavily into being environmentally aware in my decor, so using leaves, pinecones or twigs and greenery are my go – to and they add a fresh touch to your table.
- Something sparkly! Be it a beautiful setting of votive candles or a table runner made from a glittery fabric, I always use a pop of sparkle to liven up the place.
So, what’s your favorite element to decorate with? Are you a nature guy/gal or are you a last minute Michael’s Craft Store shopper?
Best wishes for a blessed and Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Tastefully Inspired.
