Today’s the last day to vote for Interior Design Magazine’s Best of the Year Awards 2016! The reason I get excited about this vote is because it is an online and public vote. That’s right folks, the finalists are picked by the public. I always thought that this was very progressive because at the end of the day it’s the public who gets to enjoy the work and buy the product. Then, of course, it goes to a panel of experts. Most designers and manufacturers in the industry know that if they can get to be a finalist that’s pretty much equivalent to winning. I mean everyone wants to walk away with a win, but being judged by panel doesn’t hold as much weight as a public vote.
Yesterday I went over the nominees or should I say the people who enter their products. It felt like Christmas came early because the visuals were so amazing. I love the breakdown of categories and on the international front we’re getting a lot more entries. I would really hate to be on a panel that has to pick a winner. There are some amazing products out there. The innovations of design never cease to amaze me and year-by-year they get better and better.
On a side note, I want to stress that awards for design are very subjective. If you love something do it because you love it not for the award factor. If I was a designer, I’m not really sure if I would enter my products. But I always have respected people who do because it is not an easy thing to put them up to public scrutiny.
So below are some of the products that from the start out as well as direct links if you would like to vote for them. Enjoy the blog and happy voting. If for some reason you think I overlooked a product, the comment section as always is wide open.
