Fall is in the air so it’s time to put away that summer decor and incorporate the oranges and the browns. I think we might be on the same page when we talk about how great autumn weather feels, but the colors are even better. Feelings of family gatherings, red wine and of course those work parties. Did I mention the red wine? Give me a break; I am a parent so I deserve a glass or two for another year in the books.
Most blogs focus on the autumn decor and I do love that, but today I want to focus on family. Here is the question of the day or weekend.
What reminds you of family during the holiday?
For me, it all revolves around the fireplace. I love a nice raging fire while sipping my Torres Brandy. I always sit there with my dad and brother and just talk. Talking is a lost art that most people have replaced with texting. I am guilty of that during most of the year, but I try and limit this during the holidays because I value my time with my family.
A fireplace for me is a must to get that holiday feeling. Something about the flames seen through a wine glass just makes me smile. I was in Napa last February and remember sitting by the fire and thinking I had a great holiday season.
For those of you that don’t have a fireplace and crave one, an ethanol fireplace is an option that can be installed even without a chimney. Thanks to various innovations you can now have that fireplace feeling without the old school hassle. It is better for the environment and is adaptable to any room decor. Karina swears by it so much that she has added this link to an article on Houzz about it. I must admit these ethanol fireplaces are a huge change from my wood burning red brick fireplace. Considering how portable and how cleanly they burn I might be sold. In fact, integrating it into my red brick fireplace might just be the ticket! After reading over the article it also looks like it would be a breeze to do.
When they are not on, fireplaces can serve as a focal point in a room. But when they are lit, they become undeniably powerful, instantly creating an atmosphere of coziness, romance, warmth and beauty. Karina Jones
Today I wanted to show a few fireplace friendly designs that speak to me. Now a days there are all types for fireplaces; which is your favorite? Truth is there are tons of options from old school, ethanol and even a mix but all can be achieved if you have the vision and right interior design specialist.
So enough about my sappy holiday stories. Here are the visuals that I really love.
