Part 1, Best Business Books
If you’ve been a business owner for a while, you understand the importance of learning and keeping up with new technology. There are so many avenues to learn from these days; webinars and podcasts, Facebook groups and networking events; there’s no end to the stream of information available. However, there’s one way that stands the test of time for me and that’s a good old-fashioned book. If you haven’t taken time recently to sit down and devote a few hours to your business education, then now’s the time.
This week, I’ll be sharing my favorite references for business owners. Today starts with the most valuable and inspirational business books on my bookshelf that I want to share with you. These books have helped me create several businesses over the past 2 decades and go after my dreams of being a successful entrepreneur.
- She Means Business, Turn Your Ideas Into Reality and Become a Wildly Successful Entrepreneur by Carrie Green – This is currently my favorite book hands down. I joined her organization, the Female Entrepreneur Association after reading it. Not only is Carrie Green an amazing writer, but her genuine care for her community shows through in everything she publishes. The book is a mix of business inspiration, a dash of soul searching and valuable worksheets to get you motivated and ready to take on the business world.
- Do you need an extra measure of motivation to kick your butt in gear? Then this book will do the trick: an oldie but a goodie, Do It! Let’s Get Off Our Buts by Peter McWilliams. I first read this almost 25 years ago when self-help books were still considered, “new agey”. However, I can tell you I got off my butt and did something about chasing my dreams instead of letting the world pass me by that year.
- Another book in recent years that has really hit the nail on the head for me is, It Ain’t Over…Til It’s Over, Reinventing Your Life and Realizing Your Dreams At Any Age, by Marlo Thomas. While I was going through some trials a couple years ago, my sweet father bought this book for me and it was so uplifting at a time when I really needed it! The book is comprised of short stories and interviews with amazing women around the globe who have reinvented themselves at various stages in their lives. I felt completely empowered every time I picked up the book and read a chapter. There’s still time for all of us to go for it!
- The Four Hour Workweek by Timothy Ferriss; need I say any more? If you’ve been on the internet for more than a week, you probably know who Timothy Ferriss is. Known for his bold presence and no-nonsense attitude, the topics he discusses in this book are straight up truth! We might not all be able to get it done in 4 hours each week, but just by implementing a single idea he shares will save you countless hours!
Tomorrow, I’ll be continuing our business series and sharing some of my favorite websites for valuable content to give your small business a jump start!
See you then!
