So the dark nights are officially here, the cold weather is starting to bite and we all look forward to getting home and putting the kettle on to warm up, but that’s not the only way to relax on a cold dark night! Before you start to think of answers of your own…I’m talking about retreating to the bathroom for a long hot shower or a soak in a scented, candlelit bath.
When you walk in to your bathroom do you see something clinical, practical and possibly full of children’s bath toys? Well your bathroom can be beautiful as well as practical. For many of us moms, the bathroom is the only place we get any peace and quiet so why shouldn’t it feel more like a sanctuary for the adults than a science lab for the children to play in?
I don’t mind admitting I’m a bit of an Instagram addict and that is where all of these images caught my eye, it’s a brilliant way to share what we love and what inspires us.
Which style catches your eye? Bright and elegant or dark and sophisticated?
Mirror, mirror on the wall…
Every bathroom needs a mirror, so why not make it a statement? A period style mirror can instantly add depth to an otherwise contemporary space. Mirrors will make any space feel bigger and darker interiors feel lighter.
I LOVE a statement bath tub and this glamorous metallic beauty is right on trend at the moment. However, a soak is not for everyone so make a statement with your shower instead. Make it luxurious and inviting to make the most of the time you have to unwind. Incorporating storage will also keep all of those children’s toys under control.
One of the other things you can have fun with when designing your bathroom is texture. From the warmth of wood to rippled tiles or the cool smoothness of marble there are so many different finishes to play with that you wouldn’t use together elsewhere in the home.
So which do you love most? Dark and dramatic or light and airy? A soak in the tub or a hot steamy shower? Could adding a period style mirror bring a different dimension to your bathroom?
