Today I had to go shopping for a tablecloth. Now most people do not really put a lot of focus on a tablecloth, but I really set my themes around the tablecloth or floral arrangements. I also think that most people try to add this item last to tie in a room and in my opinion, this should be a starting point.
Now today I went shopping with a guest designer….my 1 year old daughter who loves butterflies, so in theory now I love butterflies. Truth be told who doesn’t like butterflies? For me, they are floating and living works of art. Now back to the real focus – tablecloths.
I searched high and low to narrow down my search to these two beauties. I really love both, although the two are as different as night and day. I love the butterfly tablecloth for more of a morning/afternoon feel and I think the second could be dressed up to conjure a French feel to it. My idea is simple… bring out the ruffles and then add some nice candles and maybe some type of florals. Still on the fence on what type of candles and vase, but I think this might really look great.
The Lenox Table Cloth has caught my eye a few times over the past few months and it caught my daughter’s eye right away. It is made of really nice material and looks amazing on a light wood or white table. I am thinking about sprucing this one up with some sunflowers or snapdragons. The pattern is pretty solid and honestly the price was a steal.
The Anthropologie Petticoat Tablecloth drew my eye in as soon as I saw the ruffles and thought of Maison & Objet. I just love the ruffles and the color of this one. I am thinking of using it in a low light atmosphere with some candles and bold florals. Funny thing about tablecloths is that leave a lot to your imagination, which I just love. This is the first time I have run across this one, but something about the style looked different and elegant. How will it fair when I wash it for the first time?…..to be continued.
